# MyInvois Now Checks Your Buyer's BRN, Not Just Their TIN , Starting 2026/08/01

## What changed

From 1 August 2026, HASiL's system checks your buyer's TIN and BRN together , a correct-looking TIN isn't enough anymore. If the BRN doesn't match HASiL's records, the check fails. This isn't a proposal , it's a live change, confirmed in HASiL's official release notes, taking effect tomorrow.

What "fails" means in practice: it depends on your invoicing software. Some will block the invoice until it's fixed, others may just delay it. Either way, it becomes a problem.

If your buyer records still have an old or outdated registration number ,copied once, never updated . Then, this is the week it starts showing up as a failed check.

## Who this actually affects

### Encik Tan : already issuing, this adds a new master-data check

If you're on Phase 4 (RM1M–RM5M turnover, mandatory since January 2026), you're not new to MyInvois. What's new: invoices can now fail on a BRN mismatch , BRN is your buyer's SSM business registration number, the 12-digit ID (e.g. `202500001234`) tied to their tax profile, usually because it's outdated or in an old format. Worth a five-minute check with whoever manages your books before tomorrow, not after a validation fails.

### Siti : what to check for your clients before tomorrow

For accountants managing multiple SME clients: this is a buyer master-data problem, not a filing problem, which means it's exactly the kind of thing that hides until it breaks something. Before the change goes live:

* Check which clients' invoicing tools call the TIN validation API

* Spot-check a few buyer BRNs against MyTax

* Fix outdated ones now, before they fail at month-end

This is a small check now versus a scramble later, the kind of gap that's easy to miss because it sits quietly in buyer records, not in your own filing.

### Ahmad : probably not you, but check your structure once

If you're a Shopee or Lazada seller under RM1M revenue, you're generally still exempt from MyInvois ,this update doesn't change that. One thing worth checking once: if your business is a subsidiary, or shares ownership with a bigger company above RM1M, you might already be mandated regardless of your own revenue. If that's not you, don't worry about TIN/BRN. Your real gap is still matching your Shopee/Lazada payouts against what actually lands in your bank account , that's where your time is better spent this week.
